What are the benefits of a custom fitted set of clubs?
More ball speed, greater distance and much better consistency. The four factors that influence where and how far the ball will go are: club speed, face impact, ground contact and face/path direction. Using the Tru-Fit process, we will improve these variables so that you will hit the ball straighter, further and more consistently.
What should I do before booking an appointment?
Visit our Tru-Fit Club Fitting page and read through the “Essential Reading” section before scheduling a fitting session. For more research about custom fitting, see the links at the bottom of this page.
What is the difference between your custom fitting and fitting done at other golf stores or demo/fitting days?
The Tru-Fit performance fitting focuses on 12 tangible specifications to make sure you play with the best performing golf clubs; competitors typically only test 3 to 4 of these specifications. Our close attention to detail allows us to build your clubs to exact specifications. We care about your performance and want you to play the best you can. We stand by the clubs we fit and build.
Should I have golf lessons first or should I get fit first?
The answer is up to you.
In your Tru-Fit custom fitting session, we can assess if you’d benefit from taking lessons first or not. If we think that swing changes should be made prior to a fitting, this will be recommended in the fitting session. But this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have your current clubs evaluated as they may be working against what you are trying to achieve.
What should I expect in a fitting session?
Please visit the Tru-Fit experience page and see the “Essential Reading” section for more information.
What should I wear to a fitting session?
Please wear what you normally would to a round of golf.
We’re testing to find the best performing clubs for you and want to replicate your natural swing and playing habits as much as possible for accurate results.
How long is a typical fitting session?
For one category of clubs it generally takes 2 hours.
Additionally there is a 30 minute in-depth interview and warm-up time. A golfer generally has about 100 to 150 swings before he/she is too tired, and the swings will not provide valuable results. Thus, a second session is usually needed to complete testing all specifications for all clubs in the bag.
How long will my custom fitted clubs last me?
A custom fit set of clubs should last for between 4 to 5 years.
Custom fitted clubs outweigh any recent club technological advancements. If you’ve had an injury or your swing has changed drastically, we recommend a new fitting session to find out the best performing specifications.
Do you offer custom fitting for ladies, seniors and juniors?
The Tru-Fit Club Fitting experience offers a wide selection of club heads, shafts, grips to fit ladies, seniors and juniors over 11 years old.
Most places only offer 1 to 2 types of heads and shafts, but at Tru-Fit we understand you need a much wider selection to find the best performing clubs. We offer drivers up to the loft of 16 degrees, and lots of fairway wood and hybrid options (in terms of lofts and length).
We have shaft flex options from double-L flex, double-A flex and shaft weights beginning as light as 40g. Our wedge fitting system allows us to test wedges using lightweight graphite shafts and our putter fitting allows us to fit putters from 30 inches of length.
What brands do you offer?
We don’t believe that one brand is necessarily superior to another. In fact, claims of ‘enhanced technology of the next great club’ undermines the importance of properly fitted and built clubs. Properly fitted and built clubs provide much better performance benefits than any new technology or single brand can bring.
Saying that, we do favour brands that are of the highest quality in terms of performance and tolerance so that the clubs can be fit and built to the Tru-Fit standards. They may be the top-of-class component brands such as Wishon and Alpha, or quality brands with great technical departments such as Titleist, Mizuno and Krank - or the premium Japanese-forged irons and wedges from Epon, Shinagawa and Grindworks.
We also have Evnroll, SeeMore and Scotty Cameron putters for our putter fittings.
Can you fit the Pings/Callaways/Taylormade/Titleist/Cobra/Other I just bought?
We recommend you get fitted FIRST and then buy what works the best. Do not buy a set of clubs and hope you can be properly custom fitted. In order to have the best results from a club fitting no components of the clubs should be pre-determined (unless previously tested).
Once the fitting is complete and I have the fitting information, can I buy the clubs from other golf stores?
It’s possible but unlikely. Most golf stores and pro shops only have the capability of ordering clubs with few modifications on the specs within a range. You want clubs that are built to the exact specifications and our Tru-Fit building process will achieve that.
I saw a set of clubs in the golf store or online that seems to fit me. Why should I spend more to get a custom fitted set?
Golfers are like fingerprints: everyone is unique. You’ll note at the driving range the varying heights, sizes and unique swings of everyone there. Our arm lengths and hand sizes even differ from those of similar height. Plus, everyone has their own personality and preferences of feel.
Tru-Fit custom fitting takes into consideration every single detail that results in an improved club performance that can’t be replicated from an off-the-rack set.
What is it all about single-length irons/hybrids/woods?
Single-length clubs allow you to swing all your clubs in a similar setup posture. Your club path becomes the same; the clubs themselves will have the same length, weight, flex, MOI, thus producing more consistent results.
At Tru-Fit we’re proud to use the next generation Wishon single-length irons, hybrids and woods for our single-length fittings. Their advanced and highly adjustable designs help us to dial in each club for distance, height, direction and control, solving the problems that single-length clubs typically present.
Do you offer any discounts for your fitting and clubs?
No discount is offered for any of the services or custom fit and built clubs.
We’re very upfront with our prices and there are no hidden fees. Anything bespoke service will cost more, but what you will get is high-quality products and services that will not be matched by others.
I'm a beginner golfer. Would I benefit from a custom club fitting and clubs?
Absolutely. As a beginner, a basic fit will ensure you start on the best foot.
Tru-Fit offers a comprehensive 'beginner fitting' in which we determine the proper length, weight, grip and set make up, allowing you to select the proper clubs to begin with. Also, the clubs are highly adjustable and will grow along with your game. Purchasing fitted, quality clubs is always a best first step.
